First Orthodontic Visit

We are always excited about meeting new patients during their first visit to our orthodontic office. The initial visit will allow us to get acquainted and to answer any and all of your questions. During this important 30-minute visit, we hope to make the initial exam as informative as possible so that you can get a clear idea about what you or your child's orthodontic treatment would entail. Although a referral is not required to schedule this appointment, we will work closely with your family dentist to assure complete orthodontic care.

At your first visit, Dr. Anthony Farrow will observe the position of your teeth and check for problems such as crowded or missing teeth, submerged primary teeth, protruding upper and lower teeth and jaws, overbite, crossbite or painful joints. This information will be used to give you a preliminary idea of the problems that may be present. During the initial examination for each patient, we will address the following questions that cover the basics of orthodontic treatment.

Invisalign in Philadelphia, Pa

Invisalign® straightens your teeth without wires and brackets, using a series of clear, customized, removable appliances called aligners. It’s virtually undetectable, which means hardly anyone will know that you’re straightening your teeth.

The Invisalign System combines advanced 3-D computer graphics technology with 100-year-old science of orthodontics. Invisalign aligners are designed to move your teeth in small steps to the desired final position prescribed by your orthodontist. Each aligner is precisely calibrated and manufactured to fit your mouth at each stage of the treatment plan. Your first step is to visit our office to determine if invisalign philadelphia is right for you. After sending precise treatment instructions, Invisalign uses advanced computer technology to translate these instructions in a sequence of finely calibrated aligners — as few as 12 or as many as 48. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks and only taken out to eat, brush and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next, your teeth will begin to move gradually — week-by-week until the final alignment prescribed is attained. Then you'll be smiling like you never have before!

Clear Ceramic Braces Ceramic braces are made of translucent (clear) material. They are most popular with adult patients, due to their cosmetic appeal. The only drawbacks to ceramic brackets are that they are more fragile, and the elastic ties can discolor between orthodontic visits.

Damon Braces: No elastic or steel ties are used with the Damon System. This technology creates less friction and results in greater comfort for the patient. The Damon Braces System reduces both treatment time and the number of adjustments that are usually performed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should you choose an orthodontic specialist?

Teeth, and sometimes entire facial structures, are permanently changed by orthodontic treatment. It is important that the treatment be appropriate and properly completed. Orthodontic specialists have extensive and specialized training that enables them to provide their patients with professional, personalized treatments.

Is it required that my family dentist schedule my appointment with the orthodontist?

No, it is not. Many of our patients are referred by their family dentist, yet many other patients take the initiative to schedule an examination themselves.
